Factory
Director of Beal Street Academy
Richard McManus is a
nationally known expert, practitioner and trainer in the field of
Precision Teaching.
He began his 30-year career as a staff
psychologist at the Fernald State School, leaving to become
educational director for the first Precision Teaching based program
for autistic children in the United States.
The high level of vocational skills his students
displayed led to a long-term relationship with vocational training
center WORK Inc., becoming the Vice President of Consolidated
Products and Services, a groundbreaking corporation that provided
full-time, full-pay employment to disabled individuals producing
world class medical products.
Mr. McManus entered the field of private
enterprise, becoming a corporate trainer and consultant to a
clientele that included Northwest Airlines, United Airlines, Reebok
and National Public Radio.
Most recently, as Director of the Fluency Factory,
Mr. McManus has concentrated on building a
state of the art learning center for children using Precision
Teaching to provide K-12 students the necessary skills to thrive in
school. The Fluency Factory has helped over 300 children to
move rapidly forward and develop the confidence to succeed.
Mr. McManus is also the Director of
Beal
Street Academy, an academy designed to rapidly build reading, math
and composition prerequisites. Once these foundation skills
are in place the Academy works to teach the content skills in social
studies, higher level math, geography and sciences that are missing
from the student's academic backgrounds.
Now in its third year, the Academy has received provisional approval
from the Massachusetts Department of Education, and can accept
referrals from Massachusetts cities and towns.
Mr. McManus also maintains a private educational
consulting practice. His clients currently include school districts
in Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. |
